Pizzeria Mozza

by Laura

For John's 30th birthday I planned a surprise lunch party at one of our favorite restaurants, Pizzeria Mozza. It is a joint venture between Mario Batali and Nancy Silverton and it is definitely worth making a reservation if you're in the LA area.

I reserved the Jack Warner (of Warner Bros.) room on the side of the pizzeria, which is cozy and also acts as a wine cellar for the restaurant. Of course I failed to take photos of my three favorite dishes because I was too focused on eating them. Descriptions below don't do them justice but I'll try!

Pane bianco: Essentially this is glorified garlic bread but the combination of top notch bread toasted, rubbed with garlic, drizzled with very good olive oil and sprinkled with Maldon sea salt is really to die for. (I became so obsessed with the delicate salt flakes on this toast that I spent $17 on a box at their market next door).

Caprese: You can't get the pane bianco without the caprese. A cluster of roasted tomatoes are nestled in a pile of creamy burrata and all topped with fresh pesto and basil. So good.

Pizza Bianca: White pizza topped with fried sage. Nothing else to say.

I don't want to sell short the dishes I managed to take photos of below as everything was delicious.
